The hopeless romantic in me will be following this and hoping that Julia Cross did just give her "Martin" a wrong number, she finds him, and they live happily ever after.

Kiwi's desperate bid to find lost Ibiza love

An unlucky-in-love Kiwi has enlisted two of Britain's top selling newspapers to track down her holiday hook-up.

Julia Cross, 33, who moved to London 10 years ago, says she mistakenly gave "Martin" an incorrect phone number after they met at a nightclub in Ibiza.

Cross' memory of her mystery man is hazy, the Daily Mail reported, but Martin, with whom Cross watched the sun rise, has never been far from her thoughts.

After months of listening to her ponder "what if?", friends of the Auckland-educated PR consultant are trying to reunite the pair by creating a Facebook page and starting a Twitter account.

Cross told the Evening Standard: "It was a really brilliant holiday ... He seemed like a really considerate guy and his friends were a lovely bunch."

While some Brits were moved by the romance, others suggested Cross take the hint.

"Stalking him just stinks of desperation," one reader posted online.

2 - The power of social networking, the internet, and the media will bring these two love birds together. After two months they will be annoying the heck out of each other and wishing their romance was still just a fantasy fairytale of two strangers kissing on a moonlit beach.

3 - The power of social networking, the internet, and the media will force Martin to chuck out his bicycle helmet and go into hiding for the rest of his life.

As i was typing the above blog post, The Daily Mail did an update - Martin's been found... but he's taken! PR girl's Facebook search for a man she kissed in Ibiza ends. But has she actually had a lucky escape?

There goes all the romance out of my morning.

Martin is a total boofhead.

Ugh.
