The Mallet Wielding Natalie Van Breugel

...charged with manslaughter over the death of Lance Bain.

Why not murder? She is charged with threatening to kill. She then attacked him with a mallet - which caused his death.

How is that manslaughter?

A woman has been charged over the death of a former business high-flyer who died days after being repeatedly bashed with a mallet.

Natalie Ann Reader Van Breugel, 45, appeared in the Waitakere District Court charged with the manslaughter of Lance Bain.

Police allege she hit Mr Bain "numerous times" with a mallet. She has also been charged with causing grievous bodily harm and threatening to kill.

It is understood Van Breugel and Mr Bain were in a relationship.

'When Bad Crackie Relationships Go Worse' to be cont...

Shame she did not stay that way...

***Update***

Guess what? Surprise, surprise - she is on NZdating!

Odd - she leaves the part where she will kill you with a hammer if she does not like what she finds in your phone - out of her profile.

Funny that.

Perhaps even just a mention of having abandonment issues, and not dealing well with rejection might be nice - and fair warning - to any poor man out there that is trolling that hideous website right now.

Do NZdating not have some kind of responsibility to ensure that their members are not facing charges of unlawful killing? You know like maybe - see a killer in the news - have a browse of your website to ensure your member's safety - kind of thing?

NZdating. DO. NOT. GO.THERE!

Surprise me and make me smile - or i will kill you with a hammer!

"And I can do what I want when I want. And I do what I say I will. So read carefully and with caution. As I can get pretty forthright sometimes."

She's kind of hammering (or malletting) the message home there.

I wonder if the webmasters of that f&^*$# up site will have the sensibility to remove that profile as the woman is up on a manslaughter charge.

Jacqueline said...

Glad i am not the only one that has noticed how scary the wording on her profile is.

I doubt that hideous website will have the profile removed. They have never cared about the safety of their members in the past - don't see why that would change now.

Funny thing about this is - if this was a man that had just malletted a woman to death and was then advertising on a website for sexual meetings the media would be all over this.

I hope the men on that website see this and are warned. I do have friends that are still trying their luck at finding love on there - believe it or not!

"Sometimes what you want is right in front of your eyes". Yeah right.
I'd send her a message telling her exactly how I feel about her but I closed my NZD account down a year ago and I'm glad I did.

"Sometimes what you want is right in front of your eyes" ...

I am getting a headache at the thought of what poor Lance had in front of his eyes.

I am glad you are not on that website anymore as well Mr.

I totally agree, why is it not murder charge? She threatened to kill him, attacked him with a mallet REPEATEDLY, he died. Seems simple to me.

Jacqueline said...

I guess maybe the police think a murder charge might be too hard so they have taken the easy road and decided to just charge her with something that will not be much work to convict her of?

Maybe?

Who knows - but her not being charged with murder seems ludicrous to me.

Jacqueline said...

I could be mistaken but it would appear that she has removed her NZdating profile.

Either that or NZdating actually acted responsibly and removed it.

I wonder which it was?

I find it amazing that she is facing a manslaughter charge over killing her last partner yet less than 3 weeks after his death she was on that website looking for someone new - and as late as last night - after appearing in court on Friday - she was trolling that website.

Where is the remorse?

NZdating - Don't. Go. There.

Natalie would not have this without reason, I know her personally and maybe he was high and provoked her? Always two sides to a story... Paddy.

There is two sides to every story, I know her and am surprised by this, your quick to judge her. Paddy.

Jacqueline said...

So - she would not have killed someone without reason?

That is good to know.

Sort of.

There is not always two sides to every story - but if you feel there is in this instance - feel free to enlighten us.

He was high and provoked her in his sleep?

Get real - that is the Clayton Weatherston defence.

Sickening then - sickening now.

I believe I am real and your quick to judge. Post all comments?

Jacqueline said...

I have published all comments on this post.

I publish all comments unless they are abusive.

I would love to hear how a man that was sleeping when he was attacked with a mallet could have provoked this woman enough to warrant this attack.

Wasn't he arrested on the night of the supposed attack for drink driving with supposed injuries. Why didn't the Police address this? Is it not their duty of care if they arrest someone? And why didn't his friends take him to Hospital sooner if they were "so" worried about him????

Jacqueline said...

Good questions...

If i was being attacked by a mallet weilding woman - i think i would risk drink driving to get away as well.

Re help from the police and his friends not contacting the police - i would say that the fact that the police are feared by drug addicts probably had something to do with that - as i stated in a previous post.

Just a guess...

This is something that I suppose a good defence lawyer will raise at trial. Were the injuries caused by the mallet, or from the drink driving accident. Regarding the comment about the friends: I'd fathom that most people wpuldn't think that bruising to the body can actually kill you via blood poisoning.

Jacqueline said...

I don't believe he actually had a drink driving accident.

It has been reported that he was arrested while pulled over on the side of the road.

No mention of being in an accident.

I am pretty sure that it has already been estabblished that his injuries were caused by Natalie's mallet.

I think if you re-read the initial comment Judge Jacqueline, it didn't say he had been in an accident. Who needs a Coroner; Police Department and Justice system when people like you determine people's guilt prior to trial. I hope to God that you are never in this position and that there isn't someone out there as judgemental and illinformed as you are commenting on your situation.

Is the reason you're so interested in this because your supplier and client has dried up??? Bet you don't post that Mrs Laws?? Only going off what's in the paper ... EXACTLY what you're doing.

I guess part of my interest in this saga is due to the fact that Lance's life was obviously destroyed by methamphetamine - and hte hideous people that come with such awful lifestyle choices.

I always take an interest in these kinds of stories and write about them because i will always be outspoken regarding the evil that is methamphetamine - as well as other substance abuse.

I can guarantee you that i will never be in this situation so will not be having to worry about anyone commenting or what anyone would say about me if i threatened to kill someone then attacked them with a mallet.

From experience though - when i read things that i don't like about myself in the media - or on blogs - or anywhere - i ignore it.

Mrs Laws - OUCH. That was a low blow. ;)

Has cyf done anything about "her house full of kids"?

Jacqueline said...

One would hope so huh?

There is no way that Natalie has ever been involved with drugs...that is a fact.

Her and Lance were not in a relationship, she was trying to help him with business. She had known him less than a year.

Lance had been on a downward spiral for a long time before Natalie met him.

I have never seen her violent in any circumstances.

I had known Lance 15 years.....

Jacqueline said...

Anon 9:37 - What. A. Load. Of. Rubbish.

Nice try though. :)

There is no way the police would have charged her with threatening to kill, grevous bodily harm, and manslaughter if she was some innocent bystander trying to help him with his business who just happened to drop a mallet on his head.

GET REAL. You are ignoring the fact that she hammered someone to death!

The defence of provocation no longer exists - because there is never an excuse for violently killing someone the way that Natalie has done.

Natalie obviously has some form of substance abuse issues or she would not have been counting her clean days way back in March.

You have known Lance for 15 years and you know Natalie as well?

Huge coincidence there buddy.

So have cyf left the housefull of kids with this mallet wielder?

i agree with evertything jacqueline says... shes a murderer. Poor lance turned into a very timid man and i wouldnt blame him, natalie was a violent drunk. i knew her for a short while and saw her personality change rapidly. people trying to defend her are silly this woman is dangerous and the fact that she has her children living with her is disgusting ....she dusnt deserve to have her children who are probably unaware of what has even happened. she needs to be locked up or something as at this moment she is still a free woman!

Jacqueline said...

I believe that P could have turned Lance into a timid man. Despite so many high profile cases of violent offenders on that drug - it can have the opposite effect on a person as well.

I know that it turned me into an anxiety ridden recluse that could not so much as look a person in the eye - let alone become violent.

Attempting to blame the victim and drag his name through the mud is disgusting. Yes he made a HUGE mistake when he chose to take and become addicted to such a hideous substance but does that mean that he deserved to be attacked with a mallet for sending text messages that this Natalie woman didn't like?

NO.

Lance would still be alive today if he had not taken methamphetamine because he would not have become involved with a mallet wielding lunatic without it.

That drug, and the lifestyle that comes with it are pure evil.

Anonymous said...

surely the priority here would be getting this women better so her house full of kids can have the mother they deserve. What has occured is disgusting and we can't ignore that but imagine living with a violent drug addict. That house full of kids deserves more

Anonymous said...

Knowing Natalie personally, this is a case of mental health issues + alcohol = murder.
I would say its a lack of drugs that has caused this ie: medication for her mental state. (or the wrong drug, alcohol)
No one deserves to die via the hand of another. What she did was wrong, yet when it happened was she "right" in the head???

Anonymous said...

PS: House full of kids? Yes, she stated that yet she has one child at home....
sounds like the accounting she did for me. I got off lightly, lost approx 20K. Not my life.

May every blessing and grace be yours. May joy, and delight fill your home. May daily problems not vex you unduly, nor desire for earthly possessions dominate your life. May you have true friends to stay by you in joy, and sorrow. May your children return your love many times over. With a wise, and generous heart , may you help all who come to you in need of comfort. May you reach a ripe old age, content for having lived a life of goodness, and worth.
