Murderers, rapists, drug dealers are let out on bail and a computer whizz who shared some - OK OK a lot - of files, and cost a gazillion dollar business a few hundred million, gets remanded in custody.
Now the whole Internet is going to blow up.
ANONYMOUS FIGHTS BACKWhen i heard on the news this morning, that houses all over Auckland had been raided - i got excited that some nasty, evil, gangland criminals had been busted.
Online activists Anonymous struck back almost instantly, shutting down both the US Justice Department and Universal Music's websites in a response called 'Operation Megaupload'.
Soon after, websites for the Motion Picture Association of America, British record label representatives BMI and the US Copyright office were also targeted, as well as the sites belonging to the FBI and the White House. Tech website Gizmodo called it "easily the widest in scope and ferocity we've seen in some time".
“It was in retaliation for Megaupload, as was the concurrent attack on Justice.gov,” said Anonymous operative Barret Brown.
Mr Brown also said: “more is coming” and other members of Anonymous are pursuing a joint effort with others to “damage campaign raising abilities of remaining Democrats who support SOPA”.
Sorely disappointed.
Kim Dotcom is a living and breathing (just - by the looks of it) example of what can happen to you if you don't go outside to play once in awhile - but one would think that the FBI would have
It is a very contentious so called law that he is accused of breaking. What right does anyone have to turn up at his house, take everything he owns, lock him up without giving him bail, then send him off to the States?
Kinda scary stuff really.
To top it off, the judge that has refused Dotcom bail is the same judge that released Ashkay Chand on bail after he kidnapped Christie Marceau - only for him to go and murder her while he was on that bail.
Kidnapping and murder = bail in New Zealand.
Piss off corporate American rip off artists = no bail in New Zealand
Hmmmm.

It'll be interesting to see the outcome of this . NZ is fucked indeed if they extradite these people back to the US.
I agree - but it looks like we are going to do it.
Very much doubt it.
