What a FREAK...

Facebook hoaxer angry at charge - Technology - NZ Herald News

Nick Keesing and his creepy FB Page

A man has been charged with impersonating a police officer after he set up a false Facebook page using the details of two current officers - including the Deputy Commissioner - and messaged a woman claiming to be an internet cop.

But Auckland man Nick Keesing says police are "ridiculous" for charging him with impersonating a "virtual entity".

Mr Keesing allegedly set up a Facebook page in the name of a senior police officer whose name he found online. He told the Herald last night that he used an official police photograph of Deputy Commissioner Viv Rickard as the profile picture.

Mr Keesing said he set up the page to "scare" a woman he believed was involved with methamphetamine. His friend's partner also claimed the woman, who Mr Keesing has never met, stole from her.

"I thought 'I'm going to give her a scare ... make her have a bad day'," he said. "So I went and got a photo of Deputy Commissioner Rickard and another guy who was something to do with online policing and made them into an entity, a construct.

"Whether it's a police officer or not, I don't think so. It's virtual, it's schizophrenic, it's two different people."

Mr Keesing said he contacted the woman through her Facebook page.

"Basically, I said I was the online police and we were coming for a hair test with Child, Youth and Family, and should you be positive we will have no option but to take your kid away until you are clear. Just to give her a good scare.

"She thought it was actually a rogue policeman from her meth trial a few years ago and contacted [police] internal affairs. They did an investigation and found out it was me."

Mr Keesing said police visited his home with a search warrant for his computers. They arrested him and charged him with falsifying a Facebook profile to lead a person to believe that he was a police employee by assuming the name of an officer, court documents show.

"I'm pleading not guilty to this. My lawyer wants to take it back and get me recharged under misuse of a document, which is an appropriate charge."

The officer in charge did not return calls yesterday.

Mr Keesing said the charge should not be used for the virtual world.

He admitted setting up the profile was a "stupid" thing to do. "But sometimes you just get carried away."

This man seriously needs a hobby! I remember this guy...he was always posting his weirdo opinions all over Michael Laws' Facebook page last year. I recall him always bleating on about hookers, drugs, gangs...and there being no parking near his home in New North Rd in Kingsland! ha ha

Maybe this is a prime example of what people who have been unemployed since 1982! as he states in his profile that he has been, get up to? Or maybe he would be a nutter even if he was employed, and did not obviously have far too much time on his hands.

Either way - WHAT A FREAK.

Now he is bleating on, on his Facebook page about how it will cost the taxpayer 50k to bring experts from the States here, in order for the police to get a conviction regarding this. I wonder if he took a second to ponder the fact that him admitting his actions were "a bit stupid" to the media - might be an admission of guilt, essentially saving the taxpayer that cost? He is acting like he is going to plead guilty to a lesser charge because he is such a good person, and cares so much about the New Zealand taxpayer.

Nick Keesing judge asked if it was reduced to misuse of document would i plead guilty, i said yes as non-custodial sentencing. misuse is summary offence, fine only so another appearance in june or july. Then my learned friend and i and the prosecution will concoct the next path, and the judge will rubber stamp it, its all pretty low key ay, they see the vilest critters every day, i'm probably a pleasant distraction for the judge.

Nick Keesing nuts and bolts of it - To fly witnesses from America - Microsoft and Facebook, and house them, will cost maybe 50k and they have to do this or the evidence is inadmissible. Also the actual cost of a half day's court is something in excess o...f 10,000 and the police costs are outrageous as well.

The courts are already months behind in their schedule and you have the crazy 'you cant choose your own duty solicitor scheme' making so many more delays, its madness at the moment, 4 or 5 months behind for some things.

Admonishing the police for being overzealous with their charging and getting a slap on the wrist and to make it go away quickly with minimum cost to the taxpayer will be better than putting me inside for a yr at 100k cost. Even an anarchist like myself doesn't want to see the court burdened with this shite, it wasn't my intent to get arrested for this charge,

See, the female concerned didn't press any charges, possibly because she hates the police more than me i imagine, she tried to get them to bust theor owen kind not me. Considering this fact, i couldn't believe they wasted their time and money pursuing me, probably trying to set a precedent to control the people, i imganie that the judge wont be fooled by their supposed 'outrage', he will just think the room is full of clowns.
Guess what Nick? It is never a criminal's intention to get arrested for their offending!

His latest status update goes a bit like this...

Nick Keesing it sent me a neo-NAZI hate message, what a pathetic amateur
Ummmm yeah -cause sitting there talking to yourself, calling someone whose life you are obsessed with, a crack whore ...calling HER a stalker when you are the one who went to all the trouble of creating a fake Facebook profile and contacting her to threaten HER...is sooooo professional, as opposed to "amateur..."

What an absolute tosser. Just another example of why we should be so careful of who we correspond with online, and how we never really know who, or what is behind that keyboard and computer screen.

There are tons of crazies out there!

This weirdo and i still have 6 mutual friends.

Yikes.
Nick Keesing is coming for you!

Nick Keesing's current Facebook profile photo

I shouldn't laugh. That is actually more than a little freaky. But i just. Can't. Help. It.

In real life, i wouldnt even speak to someone like him let alone associate with him. has he not heard of the term food chain well sadly for Nick he is well at the bottom of it.

He is a strange one alright. Google his name and you find that he is actually known to the police, and also considered a campus nutter at Auckland Uni after writing an article on how to get away with raping someone!?!?

Any normal person, who really believed that children were in danger due to the parent's methamphetamine abuse - or any other illegal behaviour - would report it to the police. They would not be as stalkerish and crazy to go to the trouble of creating a fake FB profile to "give you a bad day..."

The guy is a fruit loop. Good on you for going straight to the police. I hope he gets convicted of these charges...and i also hope he leaves you alone.

All the best...

i don"t know where on earth he got any of the information from
.
for someone who thinks he is so smart, he couldn't even spell CYFS correctly in the email, Its CYFS mr Keesing , not SYFS i applaud you for the effort

Paul Hampton October 8 at 11:46am Report
To miss (Name), D.O.B. (removed for legal reasons). M.Mothers email); F. My fathers email). (my brothers email); (Previous school removed for legal reasons), (previous school removed for legal reasons).

Good afternoon Miss Green. I am Sergeant Paul Hampton of the NZ Police Online Drug Squad. As part of the National Parties new cooperative initiative in dealing with the war against drugs, we are contacting those who we have detected through Facebook net-engine searches, that we believe are intimately involved in the dissemination and production of methamphetamines.

It has come to police attention that you have the custody of a one year old child called (name). Your current boyfriend is a known methamphetamine supplier. May I inform you that under new misuse of drugs Act guidelines, that we will not tolerate the presence of class A controlled substances around children.

We have had no other recourse but to contact SYFS and organise a hair strand test to be carried out upon you and your partner in the next two weeks. If you should return a failed result, a warning shall be issued. Should you, after another months grace period upon re-testing you give a similar result, we will have no choice but to demand of the court that the child be made a ward of the state and possibly be adopted out to foster parents.

Please contact the Auckland Central Police Station if you have any further queries.

Sergeant Paul Hampton.

To Sergeant Paul Hampton.the NZ Police complaints authority, The New Zealand Herald, (My fathers email) (brothers email), (my mothers email),

Good Afternoon Paul Hampton, I am (name) the person you sent an extremely rude and un-professional email to. Id like to inform you that your records are wrong and obviously you have not done your job accurately and ensured the accusations included in your email are correct before sending this harassing and defamatory and injurious email.

i will put this to your attention, that i do not have a child called (name), Nor do i have any child or children at all, i have no children in my care and im not likely to have children anytime soon or call them (name) when i do eventually have children.
I will also put this to your attention My partner is not a known methamphetamine supplier and if by chance you have actually read the Bill of Rights act 1990 where section 25/c states c) The right to be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law: You have no right whatsoever to defame myself or my partner.

As a member of the NZ Police you are required to follow a code of conduct. Under the NZ Police Code of conduct it states All members of The New Zealand Police MUST respect the rights of all persons and treat members of the public and other employees with courtesy
and respect.
It also states that Care is taken with the handling of information, including ensuring it is used only in accordance with applicable legislation and recognised standards, policies and
directives.
You have not done this and i will be bringing this to the attention of your seniors, The Independent New Zealand Police Complaints Authority, The NZ Herald and also my Lawyer and my partners Lawyer.
I am appalled and shocked that this level of un-professionalism and harassment is allowed by the NZ Police

Shame on you

What a sicko. You have handled the whole situation incredibly well, in my opinion.

Like i said previously, i remember Nick from his constant rants on Michael Laws' Facebook page. He never came across as entirely all there, in my opinion. I had no idea until i read this article over the weekend though, and had a look at what he was plastering about you all over his page, just how much of a stalkerish, deluded, and creepy old man he really is.

It really is quite scary. I hope that people read this and are reminded once again, how careful we all need to be when corresponding with people that we have only met online. People can be whoever they want to be, from behind a computer screen. Nick attempts to come across as anything but the creepy old man that he is.

He only fools the foolish ;)

Good on you for going straight to the police with this. I hope he gets the book thrown at him.

I wouldn't be surprised if this guy was on NZDating impersonating someone else.
