for any other negative association that i make with P. There is nothing good about methamphetamine, and everything bad that you have heard is true.
In New Zealand, it has taken 18 years for methamphetamine to do the same amount of damage to our environment and society, as what it took 30 years to do in the States.
When i moved to New Zealand in the late 80s, we did not have the level of violent offending that we have here now. As the use of methamphetamine in New Zealand has escalated, so too has violent crime and murder. Horrific, violent crimes have been attributed to meth use...
A single mother and her children recently found the dead body of a P cook dumped in their garage. He had been murdered elsewhere by at least 2 men, and then just randomly dumped in someone's garage with not one thought given to the effect that finding a dead body might have on the children living in the home where the body was dumped.
A 17 year old courier driver was shot and killed when he got in the way of a bullet that was meant for an armed methamphetamine user who had led the police on a high speed chase through the streets of West Auckland during rush hour traffic, putting every single member of the public in the area in danger. A little girl will now grow up without her Dad. A police officer has to live with the guilt of knowing that a bullet from his gun killed an innocent person. He has to live with that for the rest of his life.
In another horrific case of child abuse, a toddler was beaten to death. She died after being kicked around like a soccer ball by a room full of binging adults,. She was then put in a clothes drier, and after that she was hung out on the washing line. In another case, twin babies were beaten to death. The accused, escaped conviction because the 12 adults that were present at the time of the twins beating were clever enough to hinder the police investigation.
In another case, a man that Nick actually went to school with, attacked his girlfriend ,and her friend with a Samurai sword. He actually managed to chop off his girlfriend's hands, before heading off to Highland Park and murdering someone in the parking lot of the movie theatre. He then led police on a chase, broke in to someone's house in East Tamaki and held them hostage, before being apprehended. The murdered man, was a father of small children. More children growing up without their father. Did anyone put any thought into the effect that being home invaded and taken hostage had on the person whose house he invaded while trying to escape from police? No...not really.
Three men were recently found guilty of murder, after the body of a man was dumped at Auckland Hospital by a prostitute. The dead man had been lured to a home in Ellerslie, after stealing methamphetamine and a sum of cash off one of his murderers the week before. He was beaten, then driven around all night, before being dumped at the entrance to the hospital.
Someone that i knew personally, murdered last May over a $200 bag of P. The murderers were arrested within a couple of days. Was any connection to P mentioned in the news? I don't think there was one single mention of that. I know for a fact though...that Paul Chong's murder was drug related. How many other murders and violent crimes happen, without the connection to P being mentioned in the media?
It happens all the time. I could go on and on all day...
One of my best friend's son is serving six years in prison for committing a violent robbery, in order to fund his drug addiction. She was and is a good mum. He was always a likable, cool kid, that i thought would do so well. I could not believe it when she told me everything that she has been through with him. I could not imagine that kid that i knew, smashing a bottle over a shop assistant's head while committing a robbery. That is not the kid i knew. That is methamphetamine.
What about the 28 year old prostitute that was recently found dead at a hotel in Hobson St? She had died while lying in her own vomit. By the time police found her, a week later, her face was just a mess of goo. It had been eaten away by all of her stomach acids. She was a meth addict who had made several previous attempts at taking her own life. This time she succeeded. The police had to make a special trip out to Howick to let her family know that she was dead. This did not even make the news. The reason it did not make the news is because it happens too often. There is not enough paper, and not enough reporters to cover every nasty, evil thing that happens because of methamphetamine.
The use of methamphetamine is so destructive to society, and does so much damage to the user, that the gangs that supply this drug, don't use it! They will sell it to the public, but will they take it themselves? Hell no.
I lived the life of a methamphetamine addict. I survived the worst depression that i ever thought imaginable. I survived the mean, hideous, dishonest people that involve themselves with that drug. I survived the suicidal thoughts, the anxiety, the hallucinations, the paranoia that this drug caused inside my head.
I have witnessed the evil that methamphetamine is, so i will never apologise for associating it to everything bad that i see and hear about our society in New Zealand, as it is today.
On that note...i have the sorest neck in the world from sleeping on it wrong. I am going back to bed.
Good morning!
PS...This post is partially in response to an email that i received from someone telling me that i should not relate all violent crime to P. I will always point out the very obvious signs that point directly to P use. I will always point out every single bad thing about methamphetamine.
It's all bad. I will never be short of things to talk about.
