Drunk driver tried to drive off with petrol bowser attached - Yahoo!Xtra News

I did this once. haha...i drove off with the petrol pouring thing still in my car, from the Shell station on the Pakuranga Highway...and i was stone cold sober!

It's an easy enough mistake to make... isn't it? ha

I actually did drive right off with it still attached though. Pulled it right out of it's socket! Or whatever...Did some damage to my car as well.

I was so embarrassed. Shell acted like it happened every day.

A 63-year-old Mt Maunganui woman was arrested after she tried to drive away with the petrol bowser still attached to her vehicle at a petrol station yesterday.

Senior Sergeant Wayne Mills, of Tauranga police, said today that police were called to a BP service station on Maunganui Rd about 11.15pm yesterday.

"The staff member reported a drunk driver in the forecourt of the service station.

The woman was attempting to drive away with the petrol bowser still attached to her vehicle after she had put petrol into it."

The forecourt attendant delayed the woman until police arrived, Mr Mills said.

The woman was arrested and charged with driving with an excess breath alcohol of 953mgm of alcohol per litre of breath.

The woman will appear in the Tauranga District Court today.
